[Translate to English:] Frank Faller to join centrotherm photovoltaics Inc. as new Managing Director

, 16.04.2009

[Translate to English:] centrotherm photovoltaics AG, one of the world’s leading technology and service-providers for the manufacturing of solar cells and solar silicon, has appointed Dr. Frank Faller as new managing Director to its Atlanta-based US-subsidiary centrotherm photovoltaics Inc. effective April 2009. In his new role Frank Faller will oversee centrotherm photovoltaics’ entire equipment business in the US. His primary focus will be on expanding the company’s existing business in the region.

Before joining centrotherm photovoltaics Group, Frank Faller served as Head of Sales & Marketing of Deutsche Solar AG, SolarWorld’s wafer company, having an overall track record of more than 15 years in the field of photovoltaics. His career path led him from the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, to Shell Solar Germany and US-based Astropower.

“We are pleased to win Frank Faller as a well-known photovoltaic and market expert for our US–team, who will support us in extending our customer basis in the US, where we see high market potential,” comments Dr. Peter Fath, CTO of centrotherm photovoltaics.

centrotherm photovoltaics is one of the photovovaltaic industry’s pioneer companies and launched first products in this field as early as 1979 taking its predecessor company into account. It was the first company to offer turnkey production lines for solar cell manufacturing and continued to grow along the solar value chain following the vision of a fully integrated photovoltaic factory that allows for production under grid-parity terms. In 2007 the company successfully established its US subsidiary. Among the first US-based turnkey-customers was Suniva Inc. having a 32 megawatt cell production line up and running in Norcross (GA) since 2008. centrotherm photovoltaics is currently working on a second cell production line with Suniva and clearly regards the US a focus market under the new government’s energy policy plans. With its unique technology know-how and turnkey equipment centrotherm photovoltaics is ideally positioned to support US-companies in their entry into the photovoltaic industry and enables them to benefit from the industry’s long-term growth perspectives.

“I am fully committed to support centrotherm photovoltaics in its overall aim to make solar power competitive with fossil fuels. In this new position I will be able to look at the photovoltaic business from a different angle as before. I value the chance to expand my expertise into thin-film technology, polysilicon and module production and to market the company’s broad product portfolio”, so Frank Faller.
