STC-TCS Converter
Converts silicon tetrachloride (STC) to trichlorosilane (TCS)
The centrotherm SiTec STC-TCS Converter is a key equipment for polysilicon production. It transforms silicon tetrachloride (STC) generated during the deposition process to trichlorosilane (TCS) to be re-used in the polysilicon CVD process. This enables an environmentally friendly closed-loop polysilicon production, lowering manufacturing costs and minimizing environmental impacts significantly.
The converter is provided for both 18 pair and 24 pair technology. The STC-TCS Converter designed for 18 pair technology has a molar conversion rate of > 18 %, a gas input of 3,000 kg/h and an average energy consumption of less than 4.5 kWh/kg TCS.
The high pressure STC-TCS Converter is designed for 24 pair technology and stands out due to its even higher molar conversion rate of > 19 % (22% average), its high gas input of 18,000 kg/h and its very low energy consumption/kg STC converted of approx. 0.8 to 1.4 kWh/kg.
The STC-TCS converter consists of a cylindrical bell jar, a base plate, electrodes and carbon filaments. Depending on requirements, electrical power supply, HMI control, piping and evaporators can be delivered. The advanced design of functional carbon components ensures a high conversion efficiency.
